The IIBA is an international not-for-profit professional association for Business Analysis professionals with a vision to be the leading world-wide professional association that develops and maintains standards for the practice of business analysis and for the certification of practitioners.

The objectives of the Vancouver BC Chapter are to:

  • Advance the role of the Business Analyst as a recognized professional
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and networking opportunities with fellow Business Analysis professionals across a range of industries and companies
  • Offer a variety of events at varying locations using a variety of mediums including: Lunch 'n Learns, Study Sessions, Webinars, Guest Speaker Presentations and Networking & Social Events
  • Provide access to forums, discussion groups and "knowledge bases' relating to the Business Analysis profession to provide members an opportunity to develop professionally or through formal and informal means
  • Provide access to and information relating to certification and training programs relating to the Business Analysis profession
  • Obtain and sustain a level of financial security, sustainability and autonomy at the chapter level


Project World / Business Analyst World

The Project World / Business Analyst World Conference still has some openings for their Vancouver event ~

1. They are seeking one speaker for a one hour presentation session

2. They are also seeking some moderators for the Round Tables discussions on the following topics:

  • Agile Analysis- Can it work in your organization?
  • BA Core Competencies- What are they?
  • Enterprise Analysis - How does the BA fit in?
  • How does a BA add value at a Senior Level?
  • The Dual Role of the BA and PM- Is it possible?
  • The Business Analyst and Project Manager - What do you want from each other?

3. And they have an opening for someone on the Panel Discussion: "What's happening with BA's in Different Communities".

Call for Action 

We are currently looking for volunteers to assist at the following event: 

  • Project World*Business Analyst World

Project World*Business Analyst World will be held the week of October 27, 2008 @ The Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre. The IIBA is an Association Sponsor and the IIBA Vancouver Chapter will be hosting an information booth during the Symposium Track Sessions on both Monday October 27, 2008 and Tuesday October 28, 2008. Volunteers are required for both days to provide attendees with information about the IIBA, Membership, CBAP and  Chapter Events and Activities. A number of spots are available between the hours of 9:00am and 4:30pm.

If you have an hour or two to spare and would like to assist at either of these events, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Curt Adams, by sending an email to: memberships@vancouver.theiiba.org.


 AGM 

Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2008. Additional information about the AGM can be found on our Events page and an information package will be emailed to all members, current as of September 30, 2008.

This year we have the following Executive positions up for election:

  • Treasurer
  • Vice President, Professional Development
  • Vice President, Sponsorship

If you would like to get involved at the Board level of the Chapter, please send an email before October 15, 2008, outlining the position you are interested in and your relevant background to: info@vancouver.theiiba.org. As a volunteer organization, we rely on people like you!
